Director - Security




Responsible for the effective and efficient management of security for a 250,000 sq.ft casino/resort facility operating 24hrs/day 365 days/yr. with the objective of observing, reporting, and executing certain activities related to compliance with Iowa Laws, Gaming Commission Rules, and corporate policies in place to assure the integrity of gaming, the protection corporate assets and employee and guest safety and security all conducted working closely with Department of Criminal Investigation personnel assigned to the property and where appropriate local law enforcement and health/safety agencies

Essential Functions:

  • Establishes and maintains department goals
  • Manage daily operations of the department.
  • Ensure policies and procedures, laws, gaming regulations, internal controls and SOPs are followed.
  • Implement and update policies and procedures for the security department.
  • Serve as a mentor and advisor to the security management team.
  • Liaison with DCI Law Enforcement, EMS, IRGC and other regulatory bodies
  • Investigate guest and employee accidents and other investigations as needed
  • Maintain accurate and thorough departmental records and reports
  • Accurately document and maintain reports of incidents on property
  • Ensure all security equipment is accounted for, maintained, and working properly
  • Maintain building door keys & locks, including design, installation, issuance, and recordkeeping
  • Risk Management and safety functions as assigned
  • Work varied shifts as needed
  • Insure exceptional guest service
  • Responsible for hiring, training and disciplinary of department personnel
  • Maintain an “open door” policy
  • Assures an environment which emphasizes cooperation, communication and teamwork with all departments
  • Develop and manage department budget
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Cover M.O.D. schedule as assigned


  • • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • • Must be experienced in planning, organizing, staffing and directing a department
  • • Security or Emergency Services experience required
  • • Extensive Management/Supervisory experience necessary
  • • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • • Gaming industry experience desired
  • • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations and internal controls.
  • • 1st aid, CPR and AED certifications helpful      
  • • Tips Training
  • • IRGC License
